Click here to watch Ireland AM hosts talk to our Ukrainian career workshop participant, Liliya Savych and our keynote speaker, Luba Healy.
On September 15th, we ran a career workshop for Ukrainian women who have recently arrived in Ireland due to war. We met thirty women all incredibly qualified and eager to work in their profession. The women we met are engineers, biochemists, pharmacists, piano teachers, doctors, theatre nurses, museum curators, fashion designers and accountants.
We spent the morning talking about how to get started in Ireland. It is hard to get started in a career or change jobs full stop. To do this, in a new country whose language you are learning and where you have no network is I think we can agree a lot, lot harder.
The women were buoyed up by the morning and we hope it gave them a lift. On a practical level, we shared details about how one interviews and prepares a CV in Ireland. As you’ll see from the clip, Lilya brought her 13 page CV to the workshop. She was very surprised to hear that in Ireland a two page CV will suffice!
We are actively seeking mentors to pair the women with. We ask that a mentor meets either online or in-person three times between now and Christmas. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please email aoife@workjuggle.com and we’ll provide more details.
